Hello again, I am interested in another line of my family - Margaret (Maggie) Shaloe the daughter of Charles Shaloe who lived in The Glen.
I think Margaret worked for John Kelly, the Vet and married Sinon Clancy. In 1911 they are shown to be living in The Glen with their two children John and Mary but went on to have seven children.
Would love to hear from anyone who may have information.

Panic over I've got it
Helllo my Nanna was Esther Shaloe who emigrated to NZ in 1926 her father was Martin Shaloe and Mother Ellen Egan who first married Mr Walsh before Shaloe. She had a brother Eddie could this be your father?

Hi all, I'm trying to bring together a very bitty family Shaloo/Shalloe tree. I know my father, grandfather and greatgrandfather were in Kilrush but am intrigued as to the origins of the surname. Much research believes we are descendants from the O'Sealbaigh clan but I have also uncovered a line that suggests the name was introduced to Ireland from people fleeing persecution in France (possibly spelt Chalut/Chalou meaning boat/fisherman). Has anyone heard this or do you know of a way I can research this line of thinking.
I am also keen to communicate with anyone who may have any further information on my Kilrush ancestors, particularly John Shaloo born around the 1800s as I seem to have now drawn a blank.

aine21 - would love to hear from you again as we may have some family connection

Hi I am interested in another line that may tie in with this, with family name Lorigan. I came across Mary Lorigan born c 1846, daughter of Roger Lorigan. She married John O Neill b 1846 in Cooraclare. His father was Michael O Neill, John O Neill and Mary Lorigan married on 18 Feb 1868.
Two years behind the time but I think it ties in. Clara
